Life Path Simulator is a free online text life simulator: you spend twenty points across Health, Smarts, Charm and Luck, pick one talent from three, and then a complete life plays out in front of you, one year and one event at a time. What separates it from the usual version of this toy is that every level sets a goal — live to eighty, finish as a scholar, end with every trait above eight — so the allocation is a real decision with a right answer rather than a shrug before a slideshow. Talents multiply what you already have instead of adding to it, which is what makes the draw-then-pick step a choice: a talent that doubles study is worth nothing to a build with no Smarts. Every life is a pure function of your build and a seed, so a life you liked can be replayed exactly. Runs in the browser with no download and no account.
How to play Life Path Simulator
- Read the goal at the top right first — it decides which traits are worth buying this run.
- Spend twenty points across Health, Smarts, Charm and Luck. No trait can go above ten.
- Health decides how long you live and how much you shrug off. Smarts wins anything about study or work. Charm wins anything other people decide. Luck nudges everything and is never wasted.
- Three talents are drawn and you keep one. They multiply what you have rather than adding to it, so pick the one that suits the build you just made.
- Press Live this life and the years run by themselves, one event at a time, with trait changes shown next to each line.
- Skip to the end fast-forwards the log if you already know how it is going.
- When the life ends you find out whether the goal was met. Missing it costs nothing but another go.
- Hitting a goal within two lives is three stars, and clears the level so the next one unlocks.
- Ten goals run from living to seventy-five up to reaching a hundred.
Tips
- Read the goal before touching a single point. A build for "live to eighty" and a build for "finish as a scholar" have almost nothing in common.
- Health is the only trait that buys years directly, so any goal with an age in it starts there.
- Do not spread evenly out of habit. Most events test one trait against a threshold, so eight in one trait clears far more than five in two.
- Luck rarely decides an event on its own, but it is the trait that turns a coin-flip year into a good one — a few points are almost always worth it.
- A talent that amplifies is only as good as what it amplifies. Doubling Smarts gains on a two-Smarts build does nothing at all.
- The tag goals — work, study, wealth, friends — count only the years that went *well*, so you need the trait that passes those tests, not just the events themselves.
- Traits keep growing during a life, so a build that starts at eight can finish in the teens. That is how the "finish with twelve" goals are meant to be met.
- If a level will not come, take another life rather than re-running the same one — the seed changes and the same build gets a different set of years.
FAQ
Is Life Path Simulator free to play?
Yes. It runs in the browser with no download, no sign-up and nothing to buy. All ten goals are included and unlock in order.
Is this just a slideshow, or do my choices matter?
They matter, and the level goals are what makes them matter. Each goal is achievable and none of them is met by every build — both halves of that are checked in the test suite, because a goal nobody can hit and a goal everybody hits are equally pointless.
What do the four traits actually do?
Health decides your lifespan and carries you through illness and accidents. Smarts wins events about school, study and work. Charm wins the ones other people decide — friends, teams, interviews. Luck nudges everything and is the trait that turns a coin-flip year your way.
How do talents work?
They multiply or extend what you already have rather than replacing it. Some add a flat bonus before the life starts, some amplify gains in a trait, some add years, and a couple give one bad year a do-over. Amplifiers apply to gains only, never to losses.
Can I get the same life twice?
Yes. A whole life is a pure function of your allocation, your talent and a seed, so replaying the same level with the same build gives you exactly the same years. Choosing to live another life changes the seed.
Is the content suitable for younger players?
Yes. Every event was written for this game and the tone is deliberately ordinary and warm — school, work, friends, hobbies, luck good and bad. There is no gambling, no substance use, nothing about self-harm, and no satire of real people or institutions. Lives end of old age or of plain bad luck, and the closing lines are gentle about it.
Why did my life end so early?
Almost always because Health was low — it is by far the biggest lever on lifespan. There is a floor, so even a zero-Health build gets a decent run rather than dying absurdly young, but if you want the age goals you have to buy them.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It is a reading game laid out as a single portrait column, the trait steppers are large tap targets, and the log keeps the newest year in view as it scrolls.
