How to play RC Car Race
- Hold the green forward pad to drive. The two arrow pads steer, and the down pad reverses.
- The yellow ring is the gate you need next. Gates have to be taken in order, so skipping one gains you nothing.
- Left and right are always the car's own. When it is driving away from you they match the screen; when it is coming back toward you they will feel completely reversed.
- A white ring and a line out of the nose mark your car, so you can always see which way it is pointing even when it is small.
- Orange cones sit just off the line between gates. Clipping one costs most of your speed but nothing else.
- Steering only works while the car is moving — the faster it goes, the faster it turns. A stationary car cannot turn at all.
- Reverse steers the mirror way, exactly as a real car does. It is the quickest way out of a corner you have overshot.
- Arrow keys drive it on desktop. Finish first to unlock the next circuit.
Tips
- Do not fight the reversal — drive by the nose line. Once you steer toward where the white line is pointing rather than toward the gate, the inversion stops mattering.
- Lift before the gate, not after it. The car turns in proportion to its speed, so arriving slower actually turns you tighter.
- Take gates on the inside. The cones are placed off the line to punish wide arcs, so a tight lap is a clean one as well as a quick one.
- When you overshoot, reverse rather than looping round. A short burst backwards with opposite steering pulls the nose back onto the gate in a fraction of the time.
- The circuit is a loop, so the gate after next is worth a glance. Setting up the exit of one gate for the entry of the next is where the seconds are.
- If you get completely turned around, stop steering and drive straight for a moment. Nothing resets your sense of direction faster than seeing which way the car actually goes.
- The rivals never get confused, because they are not looking at a screen. That is the handicap you are racing against, and it is why the early circuits set them deliberately slow.

Can I skip a gate?
No. Gates count in order, so driving through a later one does nothing until the ones before it are done. If you miss one you have to go back for it.
