Jet Ski Race is a free online water racing game that runs in the browser with no download and no account. Waves run right across the course, and what you do with them decides the race. Leave the water just before a crest and you launch off it and pick up speed; hit one flat and it knocks the drive out of you. Jumping is not free either — a ski in the air is not being driven, so a mistimed launch costs you as surely as taking the wave head on. Three lanes give you just enough steering to miss the buoys, but the racing is in the timing. Eight courses take you from a calm bay with waves a hundred and fifty metres apart to open ocean where they come every eighty and the rivals hit almost every crest cleanly. Only a win unlocks the next course.
How to play Jet Ski Race
- The white lines running across the water are waves. Everything in the race comes down to how you take them.
- Tap JUMP shortly before a wave reaches you. If you are still in the air when you cross the crest, you launch off it and gain speed.
- Cross a wave in the water and it slows you down noticeably. That is what happens if you never jump at all.
- Jumping too early is its own mistake — the ski drifts while it is airborne, and if you come down before the crest you get the slowdown as well as the drift.
- The arrows move you one lane at a time. Red buoys cost you speed if you hit one, so change lane early rather than late.
- Arrow keys work on desktop: left and right steer, space or up jumps. One press is one lane.
- The rail down the right-hand side shows every racer's progress, so you can see a rival who is off the top of the screen.
- Finish first to unlock the next course. Second and third still finish the race but do not open anything up.
Tips
- Count the gap, not the distance. Waves come at a roughly steady spacing on each course, so once you have the rhythm you can jump on the beat rather than on the picture.
- The faster you go, the earlier you have to jump. Airtime is fixed, so at high speed you cover the gap to the crest much sooner — this is what makes the second half of a good run harder than the first.
- One clean crest is worth more than two dodged buoys. A buoy costs you a fraction of your speed; missing a crest costs you the boost and adds a splash on top.
- Change lane between waves, never on one. Steering does not slow you down, but arriving at a crest while thinking about a buoy is how a good run ends.
- If you are behind, do not panic-jump. Two mistimed launches in a row will put you further back than the wave you were trying to catch.
- Watch the rail rather than the water when you want to know where you stand. A rival two hundred metres ahead is simply not on screen.
- The late courses reward consistency over bravery — the rivals at skill nine tenths clear almost every crest, so a single splash is usually the whole margin.

How is this different from the other racing games here?
Highway Racer is about dodging traffic and Kart Grand Prix is about holding a racing line. Here there is barely any steering — three lanes and some buoys — and the entire race is decided by when you leave the water. It is a timing game with a race around it.
Why did jumping make me slower?
Because a ski in the air is not being driven. Airtime costs you speed unless you spend it crossing a crest, so jumping constantly is worse than never jumping at all. The launch has to be aimed at a wave.
How far ahead should I jump?
Roughly half a second before the wave reaches you, and earlier the faster you are going. Airtime is a fixed length, so at top speed you cover the same gap much sooner.
Do the rivals cheat?
No. They run through exactly the same physics you do and get no hidden speed — the only thing skill changes is how accurately they aim a jump and whether they bother dodging a buoy. The best of them clears almost every crest, which is why they are quick.
What do the buoys do?
Hitting one in your lane costs about forty per cent of your speed. They are never placed on a crest, so there is always a clean way to take every wave.
Do I need to win to progress?
Yes. Finishing second or third completes the race but only a win unlocks the next course. You can replay any course you have already unlocked from the level menu.
Does Jet Ski Race work on a phone?
Yes. The course is drawn into a portrait-friendly frame and the three control pads sit across the bottom of the screen, which is where your thumbs already are.
