Hill Climb is a free online hill driving game that runs in the browser with no download and no sign-up. There is no crash and no obstacle: the only thing that ends a run is fuel. The throttle burns litres per metre driven, cans of fuel lie along the route, and the whole game is the negotiation between the two — enough speed to reach the next can, not so much that you burn more getting there than it holds. Coins pay for a stronger engine, a bigger tank and better economy, and eight flags mark how far up the mountain you have got.

How to play Hill Climb

  1. Hold the right pedal for throttle and the left one for the brake. On a keyboard the right arrow drives and the left arrow brakes.
  2. The throttle burns fuel by the metre. Coasting and braking cost nothing at all.
  3. Red cans along the route refill the tank. Gold coins are money for upgrades.
  4. The green bar in the corner is your fuel. When it empties the engine cuts out and the truck rolls to a stop.
  5. The truck also stops if it runs out of momentum on a climb, so leaving the throttle alone entirely is not a strategy either.
  6. Every metre driven pays a coin bonus on top of whatever coins you picked up.
  7. Spend coins on Engine, Tank and Economy between runs, and push past the flags planted along the hills.

Tips

  • Let go on the downhills. Gravity is free speed and the fuel gauge stops moving the instant the pedal comes up — this is the single biggest saving in the game.
  • Throttle before the climb, not on it. Carrying speed into a hill costs far less fuel than clawing up it from a standstill.
  • Aim for a steady cruise rather than a top speed. Fuel is spent per metre under power, so the metres you cover coasting are the cheap ones.
  • Economy is the upgrade that buys distance, and Tank buys a longer leash between cans. Engine buys speed and charges you for it — useful, but not the first thing to fill.
  • The brake is more useful than it looks. Slowing before a crest keeps you from launching, and a truck in the air is not collecting anything.
  • Never skip a fuel can, even at 80% full. The tank tops up rather than overflowing, and the next stretch is always longer than it looks.
  • A run that ends with fuel still in the tank means you stalled on a climb, not that you ran dry — the message after each run tells you which it was.

FAQ

Is Hill Climb free to play?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no download, no account and nothing to buy. Coins are earned by driving and there is nothing purchasable with real money.

Can I crash?

No. There is no flip and no obstacle. A run ends when the fuel runs out or the truck runs out of momentum on a climb, which makes this a resource game rather than a reaction one.

Does going fast use more fuel?

Only in the sense that it covers more metres. Fuel is charged per metre driven under power, so what actually matters is how much of the time the pedal is down — coasting downhill at speed is free.

Which upgrade should I buy first?

Economy, then Tank. Both directly extend how far one tank goes. Engine raises your average speed and increases the litres per metre, so it is worth having but not worth rushing.

Is the hill the same every time?

No. Each run generates a new profile of hills and a new layout of cans and coins, so the flags are distance records rather than fixed courses.

How is this different from Off-Road Truck here?

Off-Road Truck is about not shaking unstrapped cargo off the back, so it punishes hard landings. Here there is no cargo and no crash — the constraint is entirely the fuel in the tank.

Do I keep my upgrades?

Yes. Coins, upgrades and your best distance are saved in your browser, so you can close the page and pick the same truck up later on the same device.
