Voxel Craft Builder is a free online block building game that runs in your browser with no download and no account. You get a sixteen-by-sixteen plot of grass, nine blocks of height to build in, and nine block types — grass, dirt, stone, wood, leaves, sand, brick, glass and water. Drag to orbit the camera around the plot, scroll or pinch to zoom, and tap a face of any block to put a new one against it. Blocks attach to any face, not just the top, so overhangs, arches and tree canopies all work, and Remove mode carves them back out again. There are two ways to play. Free Build is a pure sandbox: no goal, no timer, nothing to lose, and it saves itself to your browser so a build is still there when you come back. Blueprint mode takes the same plot and attaches a target — a camp fire, a well, a brick arch, a cottage with a glass window, a watchtower, an island retreat — shown as a translucent ghost you build into. It tells you exactly how far off you are at all times: how many blocks are correct, how many are the wrong type, and how many you have added that the blueprint never asked for. A blueprint is only complete when it matches exactly, extras included, and every one of the eight has been verified buildable by the test suite rather than assumed. It is all rendered with WebGL, so it needs no plugin, and the whole thing is one page in your browser.
How to play Voxel Craft Builder
- Drag anywhere on the plot to orbit the camera around it. Scroll or pinch to zoom in and out. A drag never places a block, so you can look around freely.
- Tap the face of any block to place a new one against that face. The white outline shows exactly where the next block will land before you commit.
- Pick which block to build with from the palette under the plot. There are nine types, and glass and water are see-through.
- Blocks attach to any face, not only the top of another block. That is what makes overhangs, arches and tree canopies possible — but nothing can float free of the build.
- Switch on Remove and tapping takes a block away instead of adding one. You can carve a block out from under a stack; the ones above stay where they are.
- The grass ground layer is the plot itself and cannot be removed, so you can never dig yourself a hole with no floor.
- Free Build has no goal and no timer, and saves to your browser automatically — close the tab and your build is still there next time.
- Pick a blueprint from the dropdown to get a target instead. The blocks you still need appear as translucent ghosts, so you build straight into the shape.
- The counter at the top right shows how many blocks are correct, how many are the wrong type, and how many extra blocks you have added that the blueprint did not ask for.
- A blueprint is complete only when it matches exactly — every wanted block present and correct, and nothing extra anywhere on the plot.
Tips
- Orbit before you build. Placing from a bad angle is the most common way to put a block one cell off, because the face you meant to tap is hidden behind the one in front of it.
- On a blueprint, build the bottom layer first and work up. The ghosts make it tempting to start with the interesting bits, but a shape is much easier to read when its base is solid.
- Zoom in for detail work. The white outline is precise, but at full zoom-out two adjacent faces are only a few pixels apart on a phone.
- Remember that extra blocks count against a blueprint. If you are experimenting, Remove them before you go looking for what is missing — a stray block reads as "not finished" exactly like a missing one.
- Water and glass are the only see-through blocks, which makes them useful for reading the inside of a build you have already walled in.
- In Free Build, the plot holds up to nine hundred blocks including the ground, so a full-height tower on every square is not possible. Build up in one place rather than covering everything.
- Clear wipes the build but leaves the ground, so it is a fast reset when a blueprint has got away from you — and in Free Build it is the only thing that is not undoable, so use it deliberately.
FAQ
Is Voxel Craft Builder free to play?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no download, no plugin, no sign-up and nothing to buy. Every block type and all eight blueprints are available from the start.
Does my build get saved?
Free Build saves automatically to your own browser, so closing the tab and coming back later leaves your build intact. Blueprints start fresh each time, since the point of them is the build itself.
How do I remove a block?
Turn on Remove in the controls, then tap the block you want gone. You can take a block out from under a stack — the ones above stay put, which is how overhangs and arches get carved.
Why will a block not go where I tap?
Every block has to touch something already built on at least one face — nothing floats free. The other two limits are the edge of the plot and the nine-hundred-block cap, and the message under the plot says which one you have hit.
What is Blueprint mode?
The same plot with a target attached. The blocks you still need show as translucent ghosts, and the counter tells you how many are correct, wrong or extra. It completes only on an exact match, extras included.
Is this Minecraft?
No — it is an original browser game with no connection to any other title. It uses the block-building idea that many games share, but the world, the block set, the blueprints and the code are all its own, and nothing is imported from another game.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. Drag one finger to orbit, pinch to zoom and tap to build. It renders with WebGL, which every current mobile browser supports, and the plot is square so a portrait screen suits it fine.
Are the blueprints actually possible to build?
Yes, and it is verified rather than assumed. The test suite builds each of the eight blueprints from an empty plot using only legal placements, and checks that the result matches exactly — no missing blocks, no wrong types, nothing extra.
