Mandala Coloring is a free online mandala colouring book you can open straight in the browser, with no download and no account. It works on one rule that changes how colouring feels: nothing is ever coloured alone. Each design has a rotational symmetry — six-fold, eight-fold, twelve-fold, sixteen-fold — and tapping a single wedge fills every matching wedge around the circle at the same time. One tap on the sixteen-fold Sun Wheel places sixteen pieces of colour. That means the pattern is symmetric from the very first tap and can never come out lopsided, and it means a big mandala fills far faster than its wedge count suggests: the 144-wedge Grand Mandala is twelve taps a ring, not 144. Hovering a wedge lights the whole group before you commit, so the rule is visible rather than something you have to be told. There are eight designs of rising size, from a thirty-wedge first bloom to that seven-ring Grand Mandala, and six hand-picked palettes — Sunset, Ocean, Garden, Blossom, Ember and Dusk — each a six-step ramp chosen so any two colours next to each other still look deliberate. Nothing is timed, nothing can be lost: undo goes back a long way, the eraser takes a group back to blank, and every design keeps its own colouring in your browser so you can leave one half-finished and start another.

How to play Mandala Coloring

1. Choose a colour from the six swatches on the right. They come from whichever palette is selected, and switching palettes recolours the swatches without touching what you have already coloured.
2. Tap any wedge of the mandala. Every wedge in the same symmetry group fills at the same moment — six of them on a six-fold design, sixteen on the sixteen-fold Sun Wheel.
3. Hover or focus a wedge before tapping and the whole group lights up, so you can see exactly what a tap is about to colour.
4. The status line above the mandala says how many wedges are filled, and how many taps it takes to fill the whole design. That second number is the wedge count divided by the fold count.
5. Eraser turns a tap into a rub-out: it takes the whole group back to blank. Tap Eraser again to go back to colouring.
6. Undo steps back through everything you have done on the current design, including clears and erases.
7. Surprise fills the next blank group with a colour chosen from the palette for you. Pressing it repeatedly sweeps outward from the centre, which is a fast way to lay down a base you then recolour.
8. A design is finished when there are no blank wedges left. It completes on its own — there is no submit button — and unlocks the next design in the list.
9. Each design keeps its own colouring in your browser, so you can switch to another one and come back to a half-finished piece exactly as you left it.

Tips

• Work outward from the centre. The inner rings have the fewest wedges and set the colour that everything else has to sit against, so deciding them first saves recolouring later.
• The palettes are ordered light to dark on purpose. Using the two ends on adjacent rings gives a mandala that reads clearly from a distance; using two neighbours in the middle gives a soft, blended one.
• Alternate rather than repeat. A ring in the same colour as the ring inside it merges into one shape and loses the pattern, which is the single most common way a mandala ends up looking flat.
• The higher-fold designs are quicker than they look. Sun Wheel has 80 wedges but only five taps per ring, so it is a shorter sit than the 48-wedge Lotus Pool.
• Split rings — the ones where each fold is cut into two or three — are where a design gets its detail. Giving those a colour that contrasts with the ring beside them is what makes the mandala look intricate rather than striped.
• Changing palette mid-piece is safe and often worth doing: the wedges keep their slot number, so the whole mandala shifts to the new palette at once and you can see the same layout in six different moods.
• If a colour choice is not working, Undo is cheaper than recolouring — it takes the group back rather than leaving a wedge you have to remember to fix.
