Survey Guess is a free online guessing game built on the "name the top answers" round from TV panel shows. Each board asks a plain question — something you find in a kitchen, a reason people are late for work, something people are afraid of — and hides six answers behind it, ranked by share. Type a guess: land on one of the six and the row flips over with its points; land on nothing and you take a strike. Three strikes and the board closes, showing you everything you missed, because a board you cannot learn from is a board not worth replaying. Six rounds string one to four boards together behind a points target, and the later rounds cut you to two strikes. Answers are matched generously — case, punctuation, plurals and the little words like "a" and "the" are all ignored, and every answer carries a list of other wordings that count. The surveys were written for this site rather than collected from a real poll, and the game says so rather than pretending otherwise.
How to play Survey Guess
- Press Play. A question appears above six numbered rows, all face down — those are the six answers, ranked with the most popular at the top.
- Type what you think most people would answer and press Guess, or just hit Enter.
- A hit flips that row over and adds its points to your score. The six answers on every board add up to exactly 100, so the top answer alone is worth a quarter of it.
- A guess that matches none of the six is a strike. The strike row under the board shows how many you have left — three on most rounds, two on the hardest two.
- Naming an answer that is already showing is not a strike. The board just tells you it is up there and lets you try again.
- Matching is deliberately loose: capitals, punctuation, plurals and words like "a" and "the" are ignored, and each answer accepts a handful of other wordings, so "sun cream" finds Sunscreen.
- When a board ends — cleared or struck out — the answers you never named are revealed, faded, so you can see what you were missing.
- Rounds two onwards string several boards together. Press Next board to move on; points from a finished board are banked whatever happened on it.
- Beat the round's points target to pass and unlock the next round. The target is shown at the top next to your running score.
- Hint tells you the first letter, the word count and the value of the best answer still hidden, without naming it.
Tips
- Answer as an average person, not as yourself. The board rewards the dull answer — Fridge scores more than Sous-vide circulator ever could.
- Start at the top. The first two answers are usually worth half the board between them, so spending an early guess on something obvious is better than fishing for a specific one.
- Think in categories, not in items. If Traffic is up there, Bad weather and Missed the bus probably are too — boards tend to cover the whole obvious range.
- One-word answers hit more often than phrases. The board stores the plainest wording of each answer, and short guesses have fewer ways to miss.
- You do not lose points for strikes, only turns. On a board where you already have four rows open, a wild guess costs nothing but the strike.
- Use Hint when you are on your last strike, not at the start. The word count plus the first letter is usually enough to find the answer, and it does not cost you anything.
- A struck-out board still banks whatever you scored on it, so on a multi-board round it is often right to spend your last strike rather than stop guessing.
- Read the revealed answers when a board closes. The same answers come back in later rounds, and the later rounds give you fewer strikes to waste.

Is Survey Guess free to play?
Yes. It runs free in your browser with no download, no install and no account. Your unlocked rounds are saved on your own device.
Where do the survey results come from?
They were written for this site. Nobody was polled — this is a static page with no backend, so the numbers are an editorial ranking of the answers most people would actually give, not data from a real sample.
Why was my answer not accepted?
Each board holds exactly six answers plus a list of alternative wordings for each. A sensible answer that is not one of those six will not be found, however reasonable it is — the board is a fixed list, not a dictionary.
Does spelling matter?
Barely. Capitals, punctuation, extra spaces, plurals and words like "a", "an" and "the" are all stripped before matching, so "The Spiders!" and "spider" both land on the same row.
How many strikes do I get?
Three per board on most rounds, and two on rounds four and six. Strikes reset when you move to a new board, so a bad board does not follow you.
What happens when I run out of strikes?
The board closes and shows you every answer you did not name, faded out. Whatever you scored is banked, and on a multi-board round you carry it to the next board.
Is this multiplayer?
No — it is single player. There is no opposing family, no buzzer and no server; it is you against the board and the points target.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The board stacks vertically and the answer field opens your phone keyboard; the Hint, Next board and Restart buttons sit under it.
