Emoji Riddle is a free online emoji quiz where every puzzle is a short string of emoji standing in for a phrase, a film, a saying or an everyday object. A honey pot and a moon make honeymoon; an umbrella with a cat and a dog is raining cats and dogs. You type what you think it is, and the answer check is deliberately forgiving — capitals, spaces, punctuation and a leading "the" are all ignored, and each riddle accepts the sensible alternative spellings — so you are never marked wrong for writing Spiderman instead of Spider-Man. Every riddle has a hint if you want one, and a skip if you do not. Five rounds group the riddles by flavour: everyday things, food and films, sayings, and a mixed final round. Three stars need a clean sweep with no hints at all.
How to play Emoji Riddle
- Each puzzle shows a few emoji that together spell out a phrase. The category above them tells you what kind of answer to look for.
- Type your answer in the box and press Guess (or Enter).
- Capitals, spaces, punctuation and a leading "the" or "a" are all ignored, so you do not have to match the wording exactly.
- A wrong guess costs you nothing but time — you stay on the same riddle and can keep trying.
- Press Hint for a written clue. It does not end the riddle, but using any hint in a round rules out three stars.
- Press Skip to move on without solving it. The riddle counts as unsolved.
- Solve enough riddles before the round timer runs out to pass and unlock the next round.
Tips
- Say the emoji out loud in order. Most answers are the sounds, not the meanings — a bee, a bee, a bee and a house is a beehive, not an insect problem.
- The category is a real clue. "Saying" means an idiom rather than a literal description, which rules out half the wrong answers immediately.
- When two emoji seem unrelated, the answer is usually a compound word joining them: honey and moon, book and worm, key and hole.
- A repeated emoji usually means a plural or a group rather than emphasis.
- Skipping is cheap on a round where you only need four of six. Spending ninety seconds on one riddle is what actually loses the round.
- Hints never contain the answer itself, so reading one still leaves you something to work out.

How exact does my answer have to be?
Not very. The check ignores case, spaces, punctuation and a leading "the" or "a", and each riddle also accepts its common alternative spellings. It does still need the whole phrase though — "lion" will not pass for "The Lion King".
Do the emoji look the same for everyone?
Not quite. Emoji are drawn by your own device's font, so the same puzzle looks slightly different on an iPhone, an Android and a Windows PC. The riddles are chosen to work from the emoji's meaning rather than its exact artwork.
Does using a hint cost me anything?
Only the top star rating. A hint does not end the riddle or deduct anything from your total, but a round played with any hints cannot earn three stars.
Can I play the emoji quiz on my phone?
