Basketball Shootout is a free online shooting game built on a real projectile simulation rather than a random roll. Tap once to lock your release angle while the arrow sweeps, then tap again to fire when the power bar is where you want it. Speed and angle go into the physics, and the ball scores only if it crosses the rim while falling and inside the ring — so a flat rocket that flies through the hoop height on the way up is a miss, exactly as it would be in real life. The backboard is a real surface too: a shot that runs slightly long can clip it and drop back through for a bank. Twelve levels move you from the free-throw line out to half-court, raise the rim, and start swaying it side to side, with a points target to beat each round and a bonus point per shot once you string three makes together.
How to play Basketball Shootout
- An arrow sweeps up and down from the player. Tap the court (or the button) to lock your release angle.
- The power bar then fills and empties. Tap again to release the ball at that power.
- The ball follows a real arc. It only counts if it is falling as it reaches the rim and passes inside the ring — a flat shot that crosses the hoop height on the way up misses.
- A clean shot scores 2 from inside 7 metres and 3 from beyond it. A shot that goes in off the backboard is worth one point less.
- Three makes in a row starts a hot streak and adds a bonus point to every shot while it lasts.
- Reach the level's points target before your shots run out to unlock the next level.
Tips
- A high arc is far more forgiving than a flat one. Around 50 to 55 degrees gives the ball a steep descent into the ring, so small power errors still drop in.
- The message after each miss tells you which way you were wrong. "Short" means more power at the same angle; "long" means ease off rather than change the angle.
- Once a shot goes in, repeat the exact same rhythm. Nothing is randomised, so the identical angle and power will score again — that is how you build the three-make streak.
- From the side, a shot that is a fraction long can be saved by the backboard. It costs a point but keeps a streak alive.
- On the swaying-rim levels, release as the hoop reaches the end of its travel. It is momentarily almost still there, and the ball has a long flight time to cover.

Is the shot random, or can I learn it?
It is fully deterministic. The same angle and power always produce the same arc and the same result, so improving is about reading the sweep and repeating it, not luck.
Why did my shot miss when it looked like it went through?
The ball only counts if it is descending as it crosses the rim. A powerful low shot can pass through the hoop height while still rising, which is a miss both here and on a real court.
What is a bank shot worth?
One point less than a clean shot from the same spot — 2 instead of 3 from long range, 1 instead of 2 from close. It still keeps a streak alive.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Both taps can be made anywhere on the court, so the whole game plays one-handed in portrait as well as with a mouse.
