Superhero Quiz is a free online superhero quiz game you can play in your browser, with no download and no account. Each round gives eight clues in the hero's own voice — "A bite from a radioactive animal gave me a sixth sense for trouble and the power to cling to walls" — and you pick the hero from four names. After every pick you see where the hero comes from, how they got their powers and one fact, such as the comic where they first appeared. There are 93 heroes: Spider-Man, Batman, Wonder Woman and the X-Men from Marvel and DC, Ultraman, Sailor Moon and Kamen Rider from manga and television, and heroes of the world's legends such as Mulan, Sun Wukong, Thánh Gióng and Hercules. Eight levels get harder in a way you can feel: at first the wrong answers come from somewhere else and got their powers another way, and on the last level all four share both. A second mode, Real names, asks which hero is secretly Peter Parker, Diana Prince or Usagi Tsukino. This is an unofficial fan quiz, not made by Marvel or DC.
How to play Superhero Quiz
- Choose a mode at the top: Who am I? (eight levels) or Real names (practice rounds with a best score).
- In Who am I?, read the clue on the card. The hero describes themselves in their own words without giving their name; pick them from four choices by tapping, or by pressing 1-4 or A-D.
- After each pick the right answer lights up green, and underneath you see where the hero comes from, how they got their powers and one more fact.
- Press Next clue (or Enter) to move on. A round is eight clues; the dots along the bottom show which you got right.
- Get at least 4 of 8 right to open the next level, the level's mark for two stars, and all eight for three stars.
- In Real names, each card shows a real name, such as Bruce Wayne, and you pick the hero who goes by it from four heroes of the same publisher or kind of story.
Tips
- Ask two questions about every clue: where is the hero from (Marvel, DC, other comics, manga and TV, or myths and legends), and where did the powers come from (born with them, gained them later, or none at all)? On the early levels either answer usually leaves just one choice.
- From level 5 on the wrong answers share one of those two things, and on level 8 they share both, so the details decide it. Cosmic rays point to one of the Fantastic Four, while a blast of gamma rays means the Hulk; a stone birth means Sun Wukong, a giant peach Momotarō.
- No clue says "he" or "she", so the heroes' powers, homes and gear are what to listen for, not who is speaking.
- A hero with no powers is still a hero: archers, spies, detectives and the inventors in armour all count as "no powers, only skill and gear".
- In Real names the four choices come from the same family, so a Marvel name sits among Marvel heroes. Surnames help: the Storm siblings are the Invisible Woman and the Human Torch, not the X-Men's weather-maker.
FAQ
Is Superhero Quiz free to play?
Yes. Superhero Quiz is free to play online in your browser, with no download, no account and no in-game purchases.
Which heroes are in the quiz?
93 heroes from four families: Marvel Comics (35, from Spider-Man and the Hulk to Storm, Black Panther and Ms. Marvel), DC Comics (22, from Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman to Static and Blue Beetle), other comics, manga and TV (17, such as Ultraman, Goku, Sailor Moon, Kamen Rider, Zorro and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and myths, legends and folk tales (19, such as Hercules, Mulan, Sun Wukong, Thánh Gióng, Momotarō and Robin Hood). Each one is also sorted by where the powers come from: born or built with them, gained them later, or none at all.
Is this an official Marvel or DC quiz?
No. Superhero Quiz is an unofficial fan trivia game. Characters are named only to say which hero a question is about; the names belong to their owners, and the game shows no character art, costumes or logos — every clue is plain text.
Are the facts from the comics or the films?
The comics, strips, shows and tales where each hero began. Clues and facts stick to settled details such as first appearances, creators, real names and powers, and leave out anything that differs between film versions.
What makes the later levels harder?
The wrong answers. On level 1 they come from other families and got their powers another way, so a Marvel hero bitten by a strange animal might sit beside a DC detective, a manga alien and a hero of legend. By level 8 all four come from the same family and got their powers the same way. Measured on 1,000 rounds per level, a player who knows only each hero's family or only where its powers come from gets all eight right on level 1 but about two of eight on level 8.
How do stars work?
Four right out of eight passes a level and opens the next one. Two stars need the level's own mark, which is one more than that family-or-powers guesser's usual score there: 7 on the first levels, 3 on the last. Three stars need all eight.
What is Real names?
A second mode with 51 heroes who go by another name, such as Peter Parker, Clark Kent, Kamala Khan, Shin Hayata and Don Diego de la Vega. Each card shows the name, and you choose the hero from four of the same family. It plays in rounds of eight with a best score.
Will I see the same heroes again?
Each new round steers around the last 40 heroes you were asked about, so repeats come back only once you have played through much of the bank. Playing a level again deals a different round.
Does Superhero Quiz work on mobile?
Yes. Tap an answer on a phone or tablet; on a computer you can also play with the keyboard, using 1-4 or A-D to pick and Enter for the next clue.
