How to play Archery Target
- Move the sight over the target face with your mouse, your finger, or the arrow keys — wherever the reticle sits is where a perfect arrow would land.
- Check the flag beside the target before you shoot. It shows which way the wind blows and how hard, and the arrow will drift that way in flight.
- Aim off into the wind — point the sight upwind of the gold by roughly as much as you expect the arrow to be pushed across.
- Hold to draw the bow. The meter fills to full draw, then enters a short green steady window; loose inside it, because past that the sight starts to float and turns amber.
- Release to shoot. Each arrow scores 10 in the middle out to 1 at the rim, and the round is won if your six arrows beat the qualifying score.
Tips
- Loose the moment the meter turns green. A short draw does not send the arrow sideways — it sends it low, because a slower arrow spends longer falling on the way to the target.
- Wind hurts far more at long range than short. The same 4 m/s breeze moves an arrow about 3 cm at 18 m and over half a metre at 70 m, so the early rounds forgive a lazy hold-off and the last ones do not.
- A shaft touching a dividing line scores the higher ring, exactly as in the real sport — so a shot that looks like it is sitting on the 10 line is a 10, not a 9.
- Never fight the float. If you have held past the steady window and the sight is drifting, you will not wrestle it back to the middle; let down by looking away from the gold is worse than a fast 8.
- Restart Round deals a fresh set of conditions, but the arrows within one round always come in the same order — so a round you lost to a gust can be studied and shot again.

Why do my arrows keep landing low?
You are releasing before the bow reaches full draw. The sight is zeroed for a full-draw arrow, so a short draw launches it slower, which leaves it in the air longer and lets gravity pull it further down. Wait for the draw meter to fill before you loose.
How do I shoot in the wind?
Aim off, do not try to steer the arrow. Read the flag beside the target, then move your sight into the wind — upwind of the gold — so the drift carries the arrow back to the middle. The stronger the wind and the longer the distance, the further off you need to aim.
How far do you shoot in Archery Target?
