Mahjong Daily Puzzle is a free online daily mahjong game that runs in the browser with no download and no account. There is one board a day and it is generated from the date, so the puzzle you get is the puzzle everybody gets, and the only way to see a different one is to come back tomorrow. There is no clock and no opponent: undo is free and unlimited, and you get three hints and two shuffles to spend however you like. What the mode has instead is a streak — the number of days in a row you have finished — worked out from the days you actually cleared rather than from a counter, so it cannot drift out of step with what you played. A board cleared with no hints and no shuffles is three stars. The board arrives at midnight, local time.
How to play Mahjong Daily Puzzle
- Tap two identical tiles to clear them. A tile can be taken when nothing sits on top of it and either its left or its right side is free.
- The strip above the board shows the date and your current streak.
- There is no clock. Take as long as you like, and come back to the same board later in the day if you want to.
- Undo is free and unlimited — it puts the last pair back exactly where it was.
- You get three hints and two shuffles each day. A hint highlights a legal pair; a shuffle redeals the remaining tiles so the board is solvable again.
- A shuffle clears the undo history, because the pairs you took no longer describe the board in front of you.
- Clearing the board adds today to your streak. Miss a day and the streak starts again from one.
- Finishing with all three hints and both shuffles unused is three stars.
Tips
- Start at the top. The highest tiles are the ones blocking the most, and the board opens up far faster than it first looks like it will.
- Before taking an obvious pair, check whether a third or fourth of that tile is visible. Clearing the wrong two of four can bury the other two.
- Work the ends of rows. The middle of a full row is blocked on both sides and cannot be taken until one end goes.
- Save the shuffles. With undo free and unlimited, most dead ends can be reversed rather than reshuffled — and a shuffle wipes the undo history.
- If you are stuck and unwilling to spend a hint, undo three or four pairs and try a different order. The board is always solvable from the start.
- Doing the puzzle at the same time each day is the practical trick to a long streak; a board takes five to twelve minutes.
- The board is the same for everyone, so comparing move counts with a friend is a fair comparison in a way a random board never is.

How does the streak work?
It counts the days in a row you have cleared, ending with today or yesterday — so it is not shown as broken before you have had a chance to play. It is worked out from the list of days you actually finished rather than kept as a counter, which means it cannot drift out of step with what you played.
What happens if I miss a day?
The streak resets and starts again from one the next time you clear a board. There is no way to make up a missed day, which is rather the point of a streak.
Is the board always solvable?
Yes. Every board is built by being cleared — one legal pair at a time — and handed to you in that state, so a complete solution exists before you see it. Undo means you can always get back to it.
Can I replay today's board?
Yes. The restart button re-deals today's board, not a new one, and your streak is already recorded once you have cleared it.
Does Mahjong Daily Puzzle work on a phone?
