Letter Hive is a free online spelling bee style word game you can play instantly in your browser, no download and no account needed. Every hive gives you 7 letters — 1 required center letter and 6 others around it — and your job is to build as many real words of 4 or more letters as you can, reusing any letter as many times as you like as long as every word includes the center letter. A 4-letter word is worth 1 point, longer words score one point per letter, and finding a pangram, a word that uses all 7 hive letters at least once, earns a 7-point bonus on top. Your running score climbs a rank ladder from Beginner up to Hive Master, and reaching the Amazing rank clears the level and unlocks the next one, though nothing stops you from sticking around and finding more words after that. There are 6 hand-built hives to work through, each with its own curated word list and guaranteed pangram, and Shuffle rearranges the outer letters any time you want a fresh look at the same hive.

How to play Letter Hive

  1. Each level shows 7 letters arranged in a hive: 1 required center letter in the middle, and 6 others around it.
  2. Type or tap letters to build a word of 4 or more letters. Letters can be reused as many times as you need within a single word.
  3. Every word must include the center letter — words missing it are rejected.
  4. Press Enter or tap Enter to submit. A valid word scores points and joins your found-words list; a 4-letter word is worth 1 point, longer words score one point per letter.
  5. Find a pangram — a word using all 7 hive letters at least once — for a 7-point bonus on top of its normal score.
  6. Your score climbs a rank ladder from Beginner to Hive Master. Reaching the Amazing rank completes the level, though you can keep finding words afterward if you want.

Tips

  • Start with the center letter plus one or two common outer letters to find short, easy words before hunting for anything longer.
  • Every hive is guaranteed to have at least one pangram — if your score has stalled, try mentally rearranging all 7 letters at once rather than only extending short words.
  • Vowels tend to be the most reusable letters in a hive; a hive with 2 vowels usually supports far more valid words than one with only 1.
  • Shuffle only rearranges how the outer letters are displayed, not the puzzle itself, so use it freely if the current layout is making patterns hard to spot.

FAQ

Is Letter Hive free to play?

Yes. Letter Hive is completely free to play online with no download, no account, and no in-game purchases.

Does Letter Hive work on mobile?

Yes — tap the hive letters or type on your device's keyboard, so it plays the same on phones, tablets, and desktop.

What is a pangram?

A pangram is a word that uses all 7 of the hive's letters at least once (repeats are fine). Every hive in Letter Hive has at least one, and finding one earns a 7-point bonus on top of its normal word score.

Do letters have to be next to each other?

No. Unlike a letter-grid game, Letter Hive has no board positions to trace — you can use any of the 7 hive letters in any order, and reuse any letter as many times as you like within one word.

Is this the same as the daily Spelling Bee game?

Letter Hive uses the same center-letter, reusable-letters mechanic as that genre, but it is its own free, browser-based word game, not affiliated with any other publisher. It ships as 6 curated hives you can replay any time instead of one shared puzzle a day.

How many levels does Letter Hive have?

There are 6 hives, each with its own 7 letters and curated word list. You can replay any unlocked level any time, and New Puzzle resets your found words for another attempt at the same hive.
