Color Gate Jump is a free online colour matching reaction game that runs in the browser with no download and no sign-up. The ball falls, and a tap sends it up. Above it hangs a column of gates, each a ring of four coloured arcs turning at its own speed and direction, and the ball may only pass through the arc that matches its own colour. One tap cannot reach the next gate, which is the point: there is always a band underneath to hover in while the colour you need comes round. Pickups change your colour on the way through, so the arc you were watching stops being the one you want.
How to play Color Gate Jump
- Tap the pad, the board, or press space to send the ball upward. Gravity does the rest.
- Each gate is a ring of four coloured arcs, turning on its own. Your ball has one of those colours.
- You may only pass through the arc that matches your ball. Touching any other colour ends the run.
- A single tap cannot reach the next gate, so there is always room to hover underneath and wait.
- Every gate shows all four colours, so the one you need is always coming round — the only question is when.
- Some gates carry a coloured dot. Passing one changes your ball to that colour for the gates above.
- Falling back down past the gate you climbed from ends the run. Eight flags mark how high you got.
Tips
- Hover low and let the ring turn. Tapping the moment you arrive under a gate is the most common way to run into the wrong colour.
- Aim at where the arc will be, not where it is. The gate keeps turning while the ball is on its way up, which is most of the difficulty.
- Watch for the coloured dot before you commit. Passing a swap gate means the next gate has to be read against a colour you are not wearing yet.
- A fast gate is not harder than a slow one, it is just less forgiving of a late tap — the wait is shorter but the window is narrower.
- Do not chase height. The floor only rises when you pass a gate, so there is no penalty for spending several seconds under one.
- Gates that spin the other way catch people out more than fast ones. Check the direction before you settle into a rhythm.
- Nothing carries between runs, so restart immediately rather than nursing a run where you have already taken a colour you dislike.

Is Color Gate Jump free to play?

Can a gate be impossible to pass?
No. Every gate is generated with all four colours on it, so whatever your ball is wearing there is an arc it can use. The longest you can be made to wait is one rotation of that gate, which the test suite checks.
Why can I not reach the next gate with one tap?
Deliberately. A jump carries the ball about a fifth of the way to the next gate, which is what leaves a band underneath to hover in. If one tap could cross the gap there would be nowhere to wait and the colour would be luck.
What are the coloured dots on some gates?
Colour swaps. Passing through one changes your ball to that colour, so the arc you need on the gates above is different from the one you have been tracking.
What ends a run apart from the wrong colour?
Falling too far. The floor rises each time you pass a gate, so you can hover under the gate you are working on for as long as you like but you cannot drop back down the column you already climbed.
How is this different from Helix Drop here?
In Helix Drop you turn the tower and the timing is yours. Here the gates turn on their own and you only control when to jump, so the skill is reading a rhythm rather than setting one.
