Color Cluster Clear is a free online tile-clearing puzzle built on one deceptively sharp rule: tap any group of two or more touching tiles of the same colour and the whole group disappears. Everything above falls into the gap, and a column emptied completely closes up as the board slides left — which is what turns small clears into big ones if you plan them. Scoring is quadratic, so a group of ten is worth 64 points while two separate groups of five are worth 18 between them. That single fact is the whole strategy: resist the easy pair, merge the clusters, then collect. Twelve levels grow the field from 8x8 with three colours up to 15x13 with six, each with a score target to beat before the board runs out of matching pairs. Wipe every tile off the board and a clear-board bonus lands on top.
How to play Color Cluster Clear
- Tap any tile that has at least one neighbour of the same colour directly above, below, left or right of it. The whole connected cluster clears at once.
- Hover or tap-and-hold a tile first to preview the cluster — it lifts and the line under the board tells you exactly how many points that tap is worth.
- Remaining tiles drop straight down to fill the gap. If a column is emptied completely, the columns to its right slide over to close it.
- Points are the group size minus two, squared: a group of three is worth 1, a group of five 9, a group of ten 64. A group of two clears but scores nothing.
- Beat the level's target score before the board runs out of matching pairs to clear the level.
- Clearing every last tile pays a 1000-point clear-board bonus and three stars.
Tips
- Never take a pair for free. Two tiles score zero and often split a cluster you could have grown into something worth 25 or 36.
- Clear from the bottom up. Tiles falling into a gap can join the cluster below them, while clearing high just drops unrelated colours into your careful arrangement.
- Watch for a colour that is almost all in one column — emptying that column slides the board sideways and can join two clusters that were never touching.
- Keep one colour deliberately untouched while you tidy the others. A single huge cluster at the end is usually worth more than everything you cleared to build it.
- A tile with no same-colour neighbour anywhere is dead weight. Count those early: if there are a lot, the target may be out of reach and a New Board is faster than grinding.
FAQ
Is Color Cluster Clear free to play?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser with no download, no account, and no in-game purchases. Level progress and your best score save on your own device.
Why did a group of two give me no points?
The score formula is (group size − 2) squared, so a pair is worth exactly zero. It is not a bug — it is the rule that makes holding out for bigger clusters the whole point of the game.
What happens when a column empties?
It closes up. Every column to the right slides one place left, which can push two clusters of the same colour into contact. Planning a column wipe is one of the strongest moves available.
What if I run out of moves before the target?
The round ends there and you can retry the same board or take a new one. Every board is seeded, so Retry Board deals the identical layout — useful once you know where the big clusters are.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The board resizes to fit portrait screens and everything is done with single taps, so there is no dragging or precision aiming.
