Snake Battle Royale is a free online snake battle game against computer rivals. Forget the grid: here your snake steers by angle, moves continuously, and your own body is completely harmless to you. The only two things that kill are the arena rim and another snake's body — and since everyone moves at the same speed, you can never catch anybody. You beat them by getting in front of them, so every fight is a geometry problem about cutting an arc, and the payoff is that a cut snake drops its whole length as orbs for whoever reaches them first. Boost trades your own length for speed, which is how you close a cut and also how you make yourself too short to be worth eating. Six rounds, from two rivals that just graze up to five that read where your head is going and aim at where you will be. Single player against the computer, no login, no download.

How to play Snake Battle Royale

  1. You are the green snake. It always moves forward — steer by pointing where you want the head to go, or with the arrow keys.
  2. Eat the scattered orbs to grow. Length is your score and the level target.
  3. Your head hitting another snake's body kills you instantly. Their head hitting your body kills them.
  4. Your own body is harmless. Coiling round yourself is a legitimate tactic here, not a mistake.
  5. The red rim is fatal. Everyone dies out there, rivals included.
  6. Hold BOOST or shift to move faster. It burns your own length and drips it behind you as orbs, so a long chase feeds whoever is following.
  7. A snake you cut drops its entire body as a trail of orbs. Turning back through that trail is where most of your growth comes from.
  8. Reach the target length before the clock runs out. One death ends the round for you — the rivals respawn.

Tips

  • You cannot catch anyone from behind. Everybody moves at the same speed, so aim for where a rival will be, not where it is.
  • The tightest turn you can make is a circle about forty units across. Learn that radius — it is the difference between cutting someone off and hitting their body yourself.
  • Boost is for closing a cut, not for travelling. It shortens you while you use it, and the length you spend goes to whoever is behind you.
  • After a kill, turn immediately. The orbs are on the line the dead snake was following, and a rival is usually already heading for the same trail.
  • Circling rivals turn steadily in one direction. That makes them predictable and slow to react, so they are the cheapest cut on the board.
  • Coil around your own body when something is chasing you. It cannot follow you through, and it will usually clip you and die.
  • Stay off the rim when a cutter is close. Being pushed outward gives you one escape direction where you normally have two.
  • A short snake is a bad target. If you are being hunted hard, spending length on boost to escape is often cheaper than the length you would lose by dying.

FAQ

Is Snake Battle Royale free to play?

Yes. It runs in the browser with nothing to install, no account and nothing to buy. All six rounds are included and unlock as you clear them.

Is this multiplayer?

No. Every rival is a computer opponent running on your machine, so there is no lobby and no waiting. The rivals get sharper each round rather than more numerous.

How is this different from the classic snake game?

Almost entirely. Classic snake is on a grid, one lane at a time, and you die by running into your own tail. Here movement is continuous and steered by angle, your own body cannot hurt you, and the only killers are other snakes' bodies and the arena rim. That flips the goal from survival to positioning.

Why can I never catch the other snakes?

Because you are not supposed to. Everyone moves at the same base speed, so a tail chase never ends. The way to beat a snake is to cross in front of it so that its head runs into your body — which is a question about arcs and timing rather than reflexes.

What does boost actually cost?

Length, continuously, while you hold it — and the length you burn is dropped behind you as orbs anyone can eat. It also refuses to run below a floor, so boosting can never delete you outright.

What happens when I cut someone off?

Their whole body converts into a line of orbs where they were, and they respawn small elsewhere. Getting the kill is only half of it; the growth is in turning back and collecting before anyone else does.

Do the rivals actually aim, or do they just wander?

The later ones aim, at where your head will be rather than where it is. That distinction is exactly the kind of thing that looks the same on screen when it is broken, so it is measured instead: the test suite counts how often a fixed, oblivious player is killed at the lowest and highest skill settings and requires the sharper one to kill more.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Drag anywhere in the arena to steer and hold the BOOST button under it. The camera crops to whatever shape the screen is, so portrait needs no rotating.
