Tips
- The rhythm is brush, lift, wait, brush. No cat here can be finished in a single bout, so plan on three or four of them rather than trying to squeeze one out.
- Lift on the warning, not on the bar. The twitch is far easier to notice than a bar creeping down, and it appears with time to spare.
- A stroke across the grain is the worst of both worlds — barely any mood and extra patience gone. If you cannot see the arrow clearly, stop and look before dragging.
- Do not chase the patch when it moves. Lift, let patience come back while you find the new grain, then start the next bout on it.
- Long, steady strokes beat frantic short ones. Mood accrues with time on the grain, not with how many strokes you make.
- Later cats give you less warning rather than less patience, so the same rhythm works — it just has to be tighter. Every level still leaves at least a third of a second to react.
