Candle Making is a free online candle making game that runs in the browser with no download and no account. An order card shows a striped candle, and you build it one layer at a time. Three dyes sit on the bench — crimson, saffron and indigo — and you add them to plain wax a drop at a time, watching the bowl change colour as you go. When the note under the bowl says you have a match, pour it into the mould. The rule that gives the game its tension is that wax sets: the bowl can be emptied and re-mixed as often as you like, but a poured layer is finished, wrong colour or not. Because colour is made of whole drops rather than a slider, the reachable colours are a fixed set — and every band on every order card is generated from a real drop combination, so an exact match always exists rather than being approximately possible. Twelve orders run from two layers of a single dye up to eight layers with three dyes and a tight tolerance. There is no timer.
How to play Candle Making
- The dashed candle on the left is the order. The mould in the middle is yours, filling from the bottom.
- Tap a dye bottle to add one drop to the bowl. The bowl shows the colour that mix would pour.
- The note under the bowl tells you how far the mix is from the band you are on, and says "a match" when it is close enough.
- Empty Bowl tips the mix away so you can start the layer again. That costs nothing.
- Pour Layer sends the bowl into the mould. That layer has set — it cannot be re-poured, whatever colour it came out.
- Each level allows a fixed number of drops per layer, which is what bounds the palette. More drops per layer means more shades available.
- Match most of the layers to finish the candle; matching every one is three stars.
- Nothing is timed, and New Order generates a different candle at the same level.
Tips
- Add one drop and look before adding a second. The first drop moves the colour furthest, because the wax is being diluted least.
- The wax always shows through, so a five-drop mix is a deep shade rather than the raw dye. Aim for the card's band, not the bottle.
- To make a purple, take crimson and indigo in equal drops; to lighten anything, use fewer drops overall rather than adding a pale dye.
- Read the number in the note as a compass: if it goes up after a drop, empty the bowl and try the other dye.
- Count the drops on the bottles — they show what is in the bowl right now, which is easier to reason about than the colour itself.
- When you cannot decide between two mixes, remember every card colour is reachable exactly, so an "almost" mix is not the intended answer.
- Empty the bowl freely. It is the pour that is final, not the mixing.

Can I undo a layer I poured wrong?
No — wax sets. The bowl can be emptied as many times as you like before pouring, but once a layer is in the mould it stays. That is what makes the live swatch in the bowl worth reading.
Is every colour on the card actually mixable?
Yes, exactly. Colour is made of whole drops, so the reachable shades are a fixed set, and every band on the card is generated from a real drop combination rather than picked as a free colour.
How does the colour mixing work?
The wax counts as two parts and each drop as one, so the mix is a weighted average. The first drop shifts the colour most and later drops less, which is roughly how dye behaves in wax and why the palette does not collapse to the three raw dyes.
Is there a timer?
No. Stars come from how many layers matched, and mixing takes as long as you want.
Can two layers of an order be the same colour?
No. Layers are generated to be further apart than the level's tolerance, so a striped candle really is striped and the same mix is never the answer twice in a row.
Do the scents matter?
There are no scents in this one — it is purely about colour, layer height and the fact that a pour cannot be taken back.
