Air Hockey is a free online arcade table you play against a computer opponent called Otto. Drag your mallet anywhere in your own half; the puck bounces off the side rails, slides through the goal mouths, and takes a real impulse from your mallet. That last part is the whole game — a mallet sitting still only blocks the puck, while a mallet driven through it sends the puck away far faster than it arrived, so the difference between defending and scoring is whether you are moving at the moment of contact. Twelve levels raise the goal count from 3 up to 9 and take Otto from a mallet that simply follows the puck to one that leads it, drops back to guard its own goal when the puck is going away, and lines up behind the puck to strike at your net.
How to play Air Hockey
- Your mallet is the green one at the bottom. Drag anywhere in your own half of the table and it follows your finger or mouse.
- You cannot cross the halfway line — neither can Otto. Each of you defends the goal mouth on your own end.
- The puck bounces off the long side rails and off the ends, except in the marked goal mouth in the middle of each end.
- How hard you hit depends on how fast your mallet is moving when it touches the puck. A parked mallet blocks; a mallet swung through the puck shoots.
- First to the level's goal count wins the match — three goals on level 1, up to nine on the hardest levels.
- After each goal the puck resets on the centre spot and drifts toward whoever just conceded.
Tips
- Never leave the mallet still in front of your goal. It stops the puck but leaves it right there for Otto's next shot. Meet the puck moving and it goes back up the table.
- Bank your shots. Hitting the puck into a side rail at an angle sends it into the goal from a direction Otto is not covering, which is far more effective than a straight blast up the middle.
- Stay a little behind the puck, not on top of it. You need room to accelerate into the hit — that gap is where the power comes from.
- Watch the halfway line. The instant the puck crosses into your half, move; waiting for it to arrive means you can only block.
- On the higher levels Otto drops back to guard its own goal when the puck is going away, so a rebound off the rail toward the corner beats a shot straight at it.

Why do my shots have no power?
Because the mallet was not moving when it touched the puck. The hit uses the mallet's own speed, so you have to swing through the puck rather than let it come to you.
Can I move my mallet into the other half?
No, and neither can Otto. Both mallets are locked to their own side of the halfway line, the same rule as on a real air hockey table.
Does the computer cheat?
No. Otto only sees the puck's position and speed, and its mallet is limited to the same table half and a fixed top speed per level. Higher levels raise that speed and improve how it predicts the puck, not what it can see.
