Bomb Maze is a free online maze bombing game. You start boxed into the corner of a 15-by-11 grid with one bomb, a wall of crates in front of you, and three or four chasers already loose somewhere on the other side. The bomb is a tool before it is a weapon: every crate you blow open is a new corridor, and the corridors you open are the same ones the chasers use to reach you. A bomb burns a cross of flame two seconds after it lands, so the whole game is walking away from a decision you have already made. Crates hide power-ups that raise how many bombs you can carry, how far the blast reaches, and how fast you move — and a longer blast is as likely to kill you as to help, because it reaches around corners you thought were safe. Six levels, chasers that start by wandering and end up refusing to step into a lit tile while walking straight at you. No download, no account.

How to play Bomb Maze

  1. You are the green character in the top-left corner. Move with the arrow keys, WASD, or the on-screen pad.
  2. Press space or the DROP button to leave a bomb on the tile you are standing on.
  3. The bomb burns about two seconds, then throws flame in a cross — up, down, left and right — as far as your current blast range.
  4. Flame stops at grey pillars, and it clears exactly one crate per arm before stopping. Pillars never break.
  5. Flame kills chasers, and it kills you. Get at least one tile clear of every arm before the fuse ends.
  6. Some crates hide a power-up: yellow carries an extra bomb, blue extends the blast, green makes you faster.
  7. A bomb you are standing on lets you step off it, but you cannot step back on — plan the exit before you drop.
  8. Clear every chaser to finish the level. If the clock reaches zero first, the level is lost.

Tips

  • Bomb the crate you are next to, then retreat around a corner. A pillar between you and the bomb is total cover; distance alone is not.
  • Open a second exit before you need it. Dead ends are where chasers finish you, and the maze starts as one long dead end.
  • A bomb dropped in a corridor a chaser is walking down is worth more than a bomb dropped where a chaser is standing — they move while the fuse burns.
  • Blast range is the power-up that changes how you die. Once it reaches four, your own bombs cover most of a corridor, so start planning the retreat earlier.
  • Chain bombs deliberately: flame detonates any bomb it touches, so two bombs a tile apart clear an intersection in one go.
  • From level four some chasers refuse to walk into a tile that is about to burn. Cut off the escape route first, then bomb the tile they have to stand on.
  • The clock is generous early and tight from level five. If you are ahead, dig toward the chasers instead of clearing crates you do not need.
  • Press a direction to slide onto the nearest lane before turning — the movement snaps you to the corridor, so tapping the turn early works better than tapping it late.

FAQ

Is Bomb Maze free to play?

Yes. It runs in the browser with nothing to install, no account and nothing to buy. All six levels are here and unlock as you clear them.

Can my own bomb kill me?

Yes, and it is the most common way to lose. The flame does not care who dropped the bomb. The fuse is about two seconds, which is exactly long enough to get behind a pillar if you start walking immediately.

How do I get out of the starting corner?

Bomb the crates. Your spawn corner and the two tiles beside it are always kept clear at generation so you are never sealed in, but everything past that is crates you have to open. The first bomb of every level is a door, not an attack.

What do the coloured circles do?

They are power-ups hidden under crates. Yellow raises how many bombs you can have out at once, blue adds a tile to the blast range in every direction, and green raises your walking speed. They last for the level.

Do the chasers get smarter or just faster?

Both, and the smarter part matters more. Early chasers pick a direction at random. Later ones refuse to step into a tile that is burning or about to burn, and some of them walk toward you. The measured effect of that is in the test suite: a hunting chaser ends up closer to a stationary player than a wandering one over the same number of ticks.

Why is there a timer?

Because without one the winning strategy on a large maze is to open a safe pocket and wait. The clock is what makes you go toward the chasers, and how much of it is left decides whether the level scores one star or three.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. There is a direction pad and a large DROP button under the maze, sized for a thumb. On a desktop the arrow keys or WASD plus space are faster.

Is this the same as the famous 1980s bombing game?

It is the same broad idea — a grid, destructible crates, cross-shaped blasts — which is a genre rather than a product. The name, the art, the levels, the power-up set and the chaser behaviour here are all our own, and no trademarked title is used anywhere on this page.
