How to play Sobosuba Blob Merge
- Press Play. A blob showing a number sits at the mouth of the tank, and the four blobs queued behind it are listed under "next" so you can plan ahead.
- Drag anywhere on the tank to aim. A white arrow points from the blob toward your cursor or finger, and the further you drag, the harder the launch. Release to fire. On a keyboard, the left and right arrow keys swing the aim, up and down set the power, and space launches.
- Two blobs showing the same number merge into one worth double the moment they touch: 1 and 1 make 2, 2 and 2 make 4, and so on up the chain. Merges chain, so a fresh blob that lands against another match will merge again.
- The merged blob is smaller than the two it replaced, so merging is how you win back room. Keep the pile low and matching numbers near each other.
- A dashed line marks the top of the tank. If any blob comes to rest above that line and stays there for about a second, the run is over — the line turns red first as a warning.
Tips
- A soft launch is a placement tool and a hard launch is a wrecking ball. Barely-powered shots drop a blob into a gap without moving anything around it, which is how you keep the surface flat; full-power shots are for driving a blob down through a crust of small ones to reach a match buried underneath.
- Blobs are squishy, so a gap narrower than the blob is still a gap. If a match is sitting under a tight opening, aim straight at the opening and use full power — the blob will deform its way through rather than bounce off the way a rigid ball would.
- Keep the big blobs along the bottom and the walls. A large blob stranded in the middle of the tank splits the surface into two small basins, and neither is wide enough to land in safely.
- The occasional 32 or 64 in the queue is the real danger, not the small blobs. Before launching one, find where its future partner will go, because until a second one shows up it is dead weight taking a sixth of the tank.
- The tank has angled corners at the bottom. Bank a low, hard shot off one of them to slide a blob sideways underneath the pile instead of dropping it on top.
- When the pile creeps toward the line, stop trying to build the biggest blob and just clear pairs anywhere you can find them — each merge buys back space immediately, wherever it happens.
