Crowd Runner is a free online running game built around one repeated decision. A crowd of runners charges down a multi-lane track, and every so often a row of gates comes up: one lane doubles your crowd, another adds a fixed number, a third might halve it. Pick a lane before you reach them. The catch is that the answer changes as you go — doubling four runners gives you eight, while adding twelve gives you sixteen, but once you have forty the doubling wins outright. Every level is built around that crossing point, so there is no lane you can simply hold all the way down. Traps in individual lanes take a bite out of the crowd if you are standing in the wrong one, and at the end a wall needs a minimum number of runners to smash through. Six tracks, and every wall is reachable — but not by ignoring the gates.

How to play Crowd Runner

  1. Your crowd runs down the track automatically. Tap the left or right half of the track, or use the arrow keys, to change lane.
  2. Green gates help — x2 doubles your crowd, +12 adds twelve runners. Red gates hurt: /2 halves it, -8 takes runners away.
  3. Whichever lane you are in when you reach a row of gates is the gate you take, so commit before you get there.
  4. Red triangles are traps. Standing in that lane when you pass one costs you the number shown.
  5. The wall at the end shows how many runners you need. Reach it with that many and you burst through; arrive short and you are stopped.
  6. The number on your crowd is the live count, and the wall marker turns green as soon as you have enough.
  7. Stars compare your final crowd to the best possible on that track, so there is always something left to improve.

Tips

  • Work out the crossing point. A x2 gate beats a +12 gate only once you already have more than twelve runners — early on, take the addition.
  • That reverses as the run goes on. By the last row, doubling is almost always worth more than any addition on offer.
  • Never hold one lane the whole way. Every track is built so that running straight down a single lane falls short of the wall.
  • Traps sit between gate rows, not on them, so there is always room to step aside and step back before the next row arrives.
  • A -8 trap early is far worse than a -30 trap late, because everything after it gets multiplied too. Dodge the early ones hardest.
  • The result card tells you the best possible crowd for that track. If you are well under it, you took an add gate where a multiply was better.

FAQ

Is Crowd Runner free to play?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no download, no account and no purchases. Your unlocked tracks and best star rating per track are saved on your own device.

Should I always take the multiply gate?

No, and that is the whole game. Doubling a crowd of four gives you eight; adding twelve gives you sixteen. The multiply only wins once your crowd is bigger than the number the other gate adds, which is why the right answer changes as you run.

Is every wall actually breakable?

Yes. Each track is checked so that playing every gate correctly reaches at least the wall's number — and also so that simply running down one lane does not. If a wall feels impossible, there is a gate row where the other lane was worth more.

Can I avoid the traps?

Always. Traps never block every lane at the same point on the track, and they sit between gate rows rather than on them, so there is room to move across and come back.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Tapping either side of the track changes lane, so there is nothing small to hit, and the track is drawn as a tall strip that fills a phone screen.
